Monteriggioni

Monteriggioni
“Come in su la cerchia tonda Monteriggion di torri si corona, così la proda che ‘l pozzo circonda torregiavan di mezza la persona li orribili giganti“
Dante Alighieri

 Monteriggioni crowns itself with towers.

Getting around Monteriggioni takes just a few minutes; the village is small and with few roads. The impression that remains in the memory, however, lasts forever. We realize that we have discovered a magical place, almost an enchanted castle like those who are known in fairy tales, as children.

Arriving at the village in the evening, when the external walls are illuminated by yellow lights, Monteriggioni seems almost a mirage in the middle of the Tuscan hills: the wall circle and the 14 suggestive towers, tighten it as if in an embrace. They are still intact, just like when they were built in the Middle Ages to defend and protect the locals.

For the town there are craft shops, restaurants with typical dishes and houses where, strange to believe, locals still live and not tourists.

In Monteriggioni the Medieval spirit has never set. The "Monteriggioni di Torri si Corona" Festival takes place in July, with re-enactments of arts, crafts and scenes of medieval daily life.
